Engaging with the community to support the history and character of the Village

'Sconset Organizations

The ‘Sconset Trust collaborates with several local groups to support the history and character of the Village.

Historic 'Sconset

Siasconset Historical Research Group (SHRG) Did you know that in 2008, a small group of ’Sconseters and islanders interested in preserving and documenting ’Sconset history came together and is now functioning under the umbrella of the Nantucket Historical Association (NHA)?

Recreation Trails

The ‘Sconset Trust has 3.21 miles of recreational trails between Ruddick Commons, the Heller Trail, and the ‘Sconset Trust Trail (off Burnell Street). Thanks to extension trails cut by the Nantucket Islands Land Bank from the Heller Trail to Milestone Road, one can now walk from Low Beach Road out into the Moors. We do not allow hunting on our property, so these trails are open year-round for all to enjoy. The ‘Sconset Trust has partnered with the Land Bank and Nantucket Conservation Foundation to bring the beautiful trails of our island to you on the mobile app, ACK Trails.

'Sconset Trust Awards

The ‘Sconset Trust periodically presents a number of awards at its Annual Meeting including the ‘Sconset Trust Award (for dedication to the mission of the ‘Sconset Trust), the ‘Sconset Trust Post Award (for land donated or to past Board Presidents), the Lourie Family Preservation Award (for dedication to historic preservation in ‘Sconset) and the Tradesman Preservation Award (for dedication by a trades person or firm to historic preservation in ‘Sconset).
